African Padauk, Arizona Mesquite, and Canarywood End-Grain Chopping Block
This is designed for the fierce foodie or serious chef. This heavyweight end-grain chopping block is made from hand-picked, premium exotic and domestic mesquite, African Padauk, and Canarywoods.
It's utilitarian as a butcher block, as seen on kitchen prep islands, and beautiful to boot!
End grain boards are preferred for the discerning cook for a number of reasons. The theory behind their functionality is simple enough: the orientation of the wood fibers receive the blade better than the long edge of a wooden plank. Because the blade is being caught between the natural separation of the fibers, which close back up over time, end-grain boards carry a reputation for being “self healing.” As a result, sharp knives do not make permanent, lasting cuts in the wood — cuts that quickly become filled with bacteria, eventually rotting from the inside out.
This board measures are 15.25" x 10 1/4" x1 1/4" thick.
