African Padauk and Black Walnut End Grain Chopping Block
For your consideration, we have built an end-grain chopping block from premium black walnut and African Padauk woods.
Measuring 18 ⅜" x 11 ¾" x 1 ¾", it's a substantial kitchen tool. Appropriate for both passionate foodie and chef alike, with simple care, it's made to outlast traditional boards (beautifully).
Because this board is likely heavier than what's likely in your kitchen, there are handholds routed in the bottom ends for easy transport around your kitchen.
Why An End Grain Cutting Board is Better?
Aside from being extremely durable, beautiful, more sanitary than plastic, and "self-healing," a recent blog post from GearPatrol explains it well.
"...meaning that it was constructed so that the fibers of the wood face upwards and make up the cutting surface. Because boards like this require more individual pieces of wood, and are generally more difficult to make, they tend to be more expensive than edge-grain boards, they're a more universal and cost-effective option for those who appreciate wooden cutting surfaces. Price aside, however, end-grain boards, like the one used by MrKnifeFanatic, are oftentimes preferred among passionate home cooks because they are easier on blade edges. If properly maintained, they are also more sanitary."
Like all of our boards, this one has been treated to multiple baths in food grade mineral oil and topped with our Hard Candy Spoon and Board Butter.
Maintenance is simple! We'll include an easy care recommendation card in anticipation of your handing this butcher block down to your next generation of foodies. Bon appétit!
The cleaver is not included and is shown for scale.
