For your consideration is this replica of a late 15th century memento mori. Memento mori is Latin for, "Remember that you have to die."

Memento mori are beautiful reminders rooted in Christianity. The prospect of death serves to emphasize the emptiness and fleetingness of earthly pleasures, luxuries, and achievements, and thus also as an invitation to focus one's thoughts on the prospect of the afterlife.

This memento mori is engraved on half inch thick  cherry wood. It's has been given multiple coats of lacquer, then wrapped in distressed copper and finished with antiqued brass button head nails. We will include a sawtooth hanger, but will leave it not installed on the piece should you prefer an alternate mode of display than a wall.

This piece measures 5¾" x 9½" x ½". If you want a larger memento mori piece, simply contact us. We'll be happy to make you a custom piece you'll be proud to gift or display.
